Part of a spoony project

I am delighted and experience a great pleasure in being part of a novel way to share the passion for spoon carving with a wider, hands-on audience.

My kookstik contribution to the project

The mind behind The Spoon Crank, a newly formed spoon carving community venue and headquartered in the land of slojd, Sweden, gathered together a small select group of carvers who have been sharing their passion, skills and knowledge on social media to put some of that in a book, the fist volume of The Book of Templates. You can find it here.

Its front and back covers are made of birch plywood and it was hand bound/stitched in Greece by skilled craftsperson Giota Asimakou. It is also printed in Greece.

This creative project is the clever brainchild of Dionisis Chalikias. He is also responsible for The Spoon Crank website and the expanding community involved with it.

I am humbled and honored to be a small part of it. Long live spoons.

If carving spoons interests you in any way I suggest you head over to The Spoon Crank and check them out. You will find spoon templates, carving tools, accessories, merch and even spoon blanks from your favorite spoon carvers. Ready to carve blanks straight from their axe to your door step. What you make of them is up to you.
