A Quaiche

To sip your favorite spirits

Useful tools like compass, divider, ruler and pencil to layout my idea
Just after the axe work, the knife is used to rough shape my idea.
Then the twca cam (Welsh for hook knife) is used to hollow the bowl. My apologies for not photographing the axing out the blank stage of this project. The idea took over.
All of this is not done in one go. I return the work in progress to a box of wood chips to control the drying process between sessions where I take a bit more here, shape a bit more there, remove this and refine that line. It is a fascinating process.
The shaping and refining of this quaich is finished. I decided to sand this one as I really liked the lines and shape. I generally do not use sandpaper preferring to let the knife finish speak. Here the lines and flow speak with the color of the milk paint.
